December 2009 Prayer Letter…..A Year In Review…

A Year in Review

This year has held many blessings for us. We have seen God’s had in our lives in a powerful way. Most of all we have seen this in God’s provision in providing for us one another through our marriage. After being single missionaries for years it has been so wonderful to work and serve along side one another and to see what God can do through us as a couple. Through falling in love with each other we have fallen more in love with our precious Savoir and friend, Jesus Christ.

One of the biggest highlights of our ministry this year was starting Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) in our local schools. This has provided us with many opportunities to share Christ love with the junior and senior high students in our area. It was also a bridge into teen Bible Studies and discipleship relationships with the students in our ministry. Please, continue for our FCA clubs. Our desire in this new year is to see our students go deeper in their walk with Christ, surrendering every area of their life to his Lordship.

Andy’s FCA boys Bible Study has been such a blessing to him. One of his passions is discipleship. He is studying Godly character traits with his guys. He has loved this opportunity to disciple young men and to teach them more about what a relationship with Jesus should look like.

Erin has thoroughly enjoyed her ladies Bible Study. She was particularly blessed when the women began to express how many new things they were learning about walking with Jesus and how their commitment to him was growing because of the Bible Study.

We are so thankful and humbled by the privilege of being used by God in this way. You are being used, too, through your partnership in the Gospel. Thank you for your part in making this year possible for us. Merry Christmas. You are greatly appreciated.

“Behold ,the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world!”

If You Would Like To Give…

We would like to express our deep appreciation to all of our ministry partners. Thank you for all of your faithful prayers and gifts over the past several years and this first year of our marriage. Andy and I have had many expenses this year, including wedding, medical and house hold needs. If you would like to give toward our ministry account this would be a tremendous blessing to us. Thank you for your obedience to the Lord and your part in reaching the lost with the Gospel of Christ. God is using you to accomplish his purpose on the earth.

If you feel the Lord leading you to give please send your check, made to KMM, to the address given. Please include a note stating that your gift is for the ministry of Andy and Erin Owens. Also, if you are interested in hearing more about our ministry, please contact us. We would be happy to come and share with you, your church, or a small group about what God is doing through us in Southeastern, Kentucky.

Please send your gift to:

tryin to feel better…

Today has been a rough day so far as I went to bed last night and woke up this morning feeling really rough. I am pretty sure it’s just a sinus allergy issue, but it has really wiped me out. Don’t worry I am not blogging to whine about how I feel. I am just asking everyone to be praying for me that I will feel better and rested by Thursday evening. This Thursday we are having our annual New Year’s Eve Teen Lock-In at the Rec Center. Our last lock in was in October and we had 225 kids attend. Since there is a chance we will have that many again, I really want to be feeling better so that I have the energy and drive to make it through the whole night. Besides my health please be praying that we will have the needed staff and chaperones for the event, and that God would begin working in the hearts of the kids even before they get here. Lastly please be praying for Scott Brandenburg as he will be giving the devotional to all the kids. Thanks so much!

Countin down to Christmas…

I am one of those people that tries not to rush Christmas along. I stand fast and boycott all Christmas music before Thanksgiving. I don’t care if Mix 94.5 decides to start playing Christmas music in October or August….until the Friday after Thanksgiving I boycott. Also I know a lot of people countdown the days until Christmas. And while I don’t count the days I do get very excited when I get down until the final hours until Christmas break. And here I sit staring at an hour until I shut down the Rec Center and go off to celebrate Christmas, see family friends, enjoy fellowship @ Church, and the big exciting thing………….get some rest!!!

I know I am getting old in that regard too. Used to I couldn’t wait to get up on Christmas morning and open presents. So much so that my mom and dad made set times that we couldn’t get up before if we wanted our presents. This year when mom asked what time we wanted to get together and open presents on Christmas morning, without hesitating I said not before 9!

I whining and kidding aside there are two things that really give me joy each Christmas. First and foremost I am reminded of how much Christ did for me by coming to earth over 2,000 years ago to pay for my sins and make it so that I can spend forever with Him. For that I am most truly thankful. Next, I love the time with my family and even more than getting gifts seeing the looks on their faces and joy when I can get them something they need or enjoy.

I have to run, now but I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!!

getting ready for another night of bowling league…

When the men’s bowling league started earlier this fall I was really stoked. I was bowling better than I ever had and had an average that was way higher than any of my previous bowling league averages. However, as the fall moved on and things became busier and more hectic I was able to bowl less and less and my average just dropped badly. So much to the point that I have really dreaded bowling the past few weeks. Tonight though is the last night of this half of the bowling season. I am really praying I can bring my average up tonight and finish well. Maybe then I will have the excitement needed in January to finish the second half of the bowling season. Fun times!!!

wrap up…

This week we are wraping up the fall semester of FCA as well as going over the the final part of our fall study series. Please pray for our students that they will take the series on changing what you are doing to grow in your relationship w/ Christ and actually apply it to their lives. That they wouldn’t view Christ only as a get out of hell free card, but actually make Him Lord of their lives.
