nursery night…

Tonight Erin and I will be taking a turn in the nursery at church to help watch the babies during the evening service. This is always an adventure. While I am not scared of being a father and having to change diapers and clean up my own kid, I am just nervous as all get out about helping to take care of other people’s children. Hopefully tonight I can be the guy who helps play with kids and keeps them from crying. I am praying hard there will be no need of my mad diaper changing skills!

senior tuesdays…

Today is Tuesday the day when all the senior guys come to the Rec Center and bowl. If you don’t have any entertainment I highly encourage you to come out and see all the exciting action that takes place here. Usually that action is me trying to fix all the problems this new fangled computer scoring system is causing them. Really I don’t think there is a win for me in this because paper scoring didn’t work well for them either! Anyhoo..should make for an interesting afternoon..

getting motivated for the baby….

Please don’t take this as a blog about me wanting to motivate myself to get excited about having our first baby…believe me I am totally excited and can’t wait for our precious little one to get here. This is a blog about all the things I know I have to get done between now and then. First of all there is our house…..where to even start?? The biggest project we have to figure out is how to get our basement to stop leaking. It looks to me as though the house has settled lower than the ground outside and so water runs off the hill and under the basement door flooding our basement everytime there is a hard rain. This is bad because we really need to be able to store stuff in the basement in order to clean out the storage room/office which needs to be turned into the baby’s nursery. So as you can see there is a huge chain of things that starts w/ the basement.

After the basement gets taken care of we have to paint and get the nursery ready which actually seems like the easiest task on my list of things to do. It’s just getting the other stuff done to free up that room to be painted. Also, at some point I have to take Erin to register for the baby’s stuff!

One of the biggest things that Erin and I hope to do to make room for baby is to have a yard sale and sell a few items both to make space for baby and money for baby bills. I’m including a few things in this post that we hope to sell and if you are interested please please let me know! Some of these items are great like end tables and two really good working window a/c units!

The last thing I am really wanting to do is get in better shape. Lose some weight and just become an all around fitter me. One of my goals has always been to have children at a young enough age that I can still enjoy playing sports with them. While I am no means dying of obesity or anything close to that, please pray for me that I will be able to make the lifestyle changes like more sleep and more exercise that I need to insure a healthy active lifestyle with my kids!

chilling at a church women’s gathering…

Catchy title for this blog, right? Well, it’s the truth I am hiding in the teen room at my church while my wife is attending a women’s fellowship night. We decided we would go to the drive in tonight for a mini date night double feature of Toy Story 3 and the A-Team. Erin though had a fellowship to attend at the church and so rather than us ending up with two car’s at the drive in, I decided I would come hide out at the church and get some computer work done.

This week at the Rec Center we were busy running a bowling camp in the mornings and then in the afternoon a church from Nicholasville, KY came and ran a VBS for the community in our facility. It was a great week, and while the numbers weren’t huge I really think each of the kids enjoyed the individual attention they were able to receive. And the best news of all 3 kids accepted Christ as their personal savior. Please be praying as I contact the sunday school teachers and churches where these kids attend that they will get the follow up they need to really develop a close walk w/ Christ.

Not as life changing, but very exciting to me is that tomorrow is Saturday June 26th, 2010. What’s so exciting about this date you may ask? Well, I am extremely excited because it is the first Saturday I have had to sleep in and do stuff around my house in forever and by the looks of my schedule for the rest of the summer the last I will have for a month or so! That being said I am pumped for some extra sleep and an opportunity to get some much needed stuff done on our house before the baby comes.

Well, I hope you have a great weekend!!!

getting ready to bowl…

As you know if I am blogging on a Thursday it probably isn’t a deep blog or a spiritual thoughts blog….nope it’s a hope I don’t stink to badly at bowling tonight blog. For some reason I just can’t get consistency in my bowling. Two weeks ago it was amazing….last week…whatever the farthest polar opposite of amazing…well, I was there. I try to find reasons for my ups and downs, I mean maybe it’s lane conditions, lack of sleep, sore from lifting something earlier in the day, or dare I say just total lack of skill and lack of ability to gain skills at bowling. Either way, tonight should be interesting, if you in Beattyville feel free to come see the roller coaster ride that is Andy bowling!
