snoopy’s coming home….

Last summer my wife and I got the cutest little poodle ever, a black and white parti we named Snoopy.  Our goal was to breed him for schnoodles with our mini-schnauzer Nixie.  However, the house we were living in at the time was too small to add a third dog and so my in-laws agreed to keep him until we could move into our new house.  Being the adorable and kid friendly dog that he is, they fell in love with him and his homecoming was pushed back until after Judah’s birth and then indefinitely.   Snoopy is so friendly and loves playing with Maeven and so I have really been wanting to get him back.  Today, my wife called and made my day by letting me know we get to bring him home this weekend.  Can’t wait for my little buddy’s return!

date night w/ Erin…

Last night I had the opportunity to take my lovely wife out on a date for the first time since Judah’s arrival.  We joined my cousin and and his girlfriend at the Movie Tavern in Lexington where we watched “The Avengers.”  The movie was awesome and at almost  2 1/2 hours definitely got our money’s worth!

Since having kids we have found out that the Movie Tavern is really a perfect date spot for us as parents.   With having to find a sitter for the kids and being on a short time limit, being able to combine dinner and a movie saves time and works out perfect for us.  On top of all that the food is really good.  My Monte Cristo wrap was great and I am still craving another.

If you are a parent who needs a date night desperately, but has limited time, give the Movie Tavern a chance!

avengers assemble…

One of the things I enjoyed most about going to public school when I was in the 4th grade was getting to go through the elementary school library and find all kinds of new things to read.   I loved the Hardy Boys and various other books that I cam across, but there was one book, that to this day I have no idea why it was in the library, that really got my interest.  It was an old graphic novel from the 1960′s or 70′s about Captain America.  The pages were really worn out and in general it seemed as though the book could fall apart.   Yet, there within those pages I found my second most favorite superhero.

In the book I read all about how Captain America came to be.   There were several tales of his battles with the Red Skull during World War II.  And then there was the story of how he ended up in a frozen state only be discovered many years later by Iron Man and the rest of the Avengers.

So fast forward to the present and I am getting all excited as I get to go see the new Avenger movie tomorrow.   The Captain America movie was great at bringing back my childhood memories last summer, and I can’t wait to see if the new movie reminds me of finding that amazing old comic book in my elementary school library.  I know I may just be a big nerd, but I’m pretty excited!
