gifts…

This afternoon I went with my family to Manchester, KY to visit with my extended family.  We had a great time just catching up with them and as usual watching my daughter Maeven be a nut and keep everyone entertained.

On the way over, Erin and I engaged in a conversation about our spiritual gifts and developing them to be used for God’s Kingdom.   One of the things we talked about is being put into situations where our gifts and talents can be developed.  Through the conversation I began to wonder about this whole process.   I know God can use us and develop us anywhere but, are there certain places where we can develop them more.   For instance, can a rough situation where you are not exactly in your “sweet spot” develop your gifts and talents more because you have to be more deliberate in seeking this?   Or can our gifts be developed more when we find that “sweet spot” where we can thrive and get encouragement from others around us?

Just some food for thought I guess.   What do you think…

slow summer start at the Rec Center…

The summer started early here at the Rec Center in 2012.  With such a light winter weather both schools and our winter bowling leagues were rarely cancelled.  Due to the lack of cancellations both our school system and our bowling leagues finished up at the beginning of May this year.   While students have been rejoicing about being free earlier it has actually caused a bit of a slow down at the Rec Center that we normally don’t experience until later in June and July.

Warm weather and no school means many people are going out of town or are busy doing other things so bowling and working out doesn’t register on their list of priorities which is easy to understand.  However, in order to keep the Rec Center up and going we really need more patrons to come to the Rec Center during the summer months and help us keep things going until school and the winter bowling season start back.

So what can you do to help us.  Well, if you are in the Beattyville area and are looking for something to do come visit us for bowling, games, or our fitness center.  If you are hungry and want to eat out, remember the Rec Center and come get your meal here.  We have a great selection of pizza, sandwiches, and desserts.   Lastly, remember to pray for us through this slow time that financially all our needs will be met  and that people will come in not only to help keep us afloat, but also and most importantly for opportunities to share Christ!

last night’s FCA Leadership Camp Presentation Update…

Last night, our FCA students presented their desire to attend FCA Leadership Camp to Idamay Bible Church.  We entered the night about $500 short of being able to pay for all six students to attend camp.  Our students did a great job of presenting and I was very proud of them a I know how nerve wracking it has been over the past two weeks to stand up in churches and speak in front of so many people.   God truly blessed us and we received the $500 we need to take all six students to camp.  When you add that in with all the donations we have been given so far as well as a promised sponsorship our kids are ready to go to FCA Leadership Camp at Campbellsville University!

That being said, now comes the hard part.  Please pray for Erin and I as we are now trying to raise the needed $250 for our family to attend camp.  Just like the students we will be receiving training to lead our FCA huddles during the upcoming school year.  It is also just a great time of spiritual refreshment for us and we are taught and poured into spiritually through great messages and fellowship with others in full time sports ministry!   Please pray that God will provide this money and take that burden from us!

To all of you have already been praying for our students and also have given to our students, thank you!  I am confident that God is going to do great things in their life at camp this summer!

FCA leadership camp presentation reminder…

Just wanted to remind everyone that our FCA leadership camp students will be speaking tomorrow night at 7 pm at Idamay Bible Church. We still need to raise another $500 to pay all six of our students way to camp. If you can make it please come and also please pray that the remaining funds will come and whether or not you might be called to sponsor a student! Hope to see you there!

update on tonight’s FCA Leadership Camp presentation…

Tonight’s presentation at Bear Track Bible Church went very well.  Our students did a great job sharing about what FCA camp meant in the past and desire to go to camp and be leaders.  The best news of all is that with tonight’s donations and some previous promised donations we are over half way there to our needed amount of funds to take the kids to camp.  Please keep praying for us that the money would come in!  Also pray if God would have you be a sponsor too!!
