Well, today is my second day of bachelorhood. Don’t worry it’s nothing serious, Erin’s mom Cathy had a knee replacement last week so I am on my own for a few days. However going home to an empty house ( no dogs or wife) is a very weird feeling. While I enjoy rest and relaxation sometimes the home chaos is nice too! Also it’s been weird getting used to fending for myself at meal time again. I had forgotten what it was like to be here at work all day without having someone bring me something healthier than the Rec Center Food to eat. And last but not least of all, when you get used to having your best friend around all the time it’s odd not to have them so close. As the the song “Big Yellow Taxi” says, you don’t know what you got till it’s gone. However, I am glad that by Wednesday night who I am missing will be back!!!

overwhelming need…

This afternoon Erin and I have been rehearsing our power point presentation to share about our ministry w/ KMM. As I was going over the infornation we had to share with the people I was reminded of the need of Jesus that so many people have, especially in our area of Southeastern Kentucky. I read the stats on how many kids are living w/ Grandparents because their parents are unable to raise them and I read the stats about those that finish school let alone go on to any sort of other further education. The most heart breaking part of all is that we were looking at pictures of kids that we have worked w/ over the past few years and many of them have totally turned their backs on God and are living their lives for themselves and don’t really care about a relationship w/ God at all. It’s so very sad when you realize someone has pretty much said No to God.

As I was going through this presentation, I was convicted much more on how I need to be praying even more for these kids and the rest of our community. I was convicted on the need to get others praying. Also, as I am looking at the future ministry of the Rec Center and the impact we can have on our community I once again really see how I need full time staff that are totally sold out to God and have a heart to reach our community for Christ. Don’t get me wrong I need volunteers to help w/ day to day stuff, but the need for a staff to be pushing ministry and showing the love of Jesus is vital. Please join me in praying for the Lee County Community and also praying for the many staff needs we have!

This weekend Erin and I are going to be meeting with some new people to share about our ministry here in Kentucky. I am really excited because most of the times that we meet with people about getting involved in our ministry or possibly even financially supporting us it is in the setting of talking in front of a big church. This weekend some really good friends of our are holding a barbeque and inviting friends to it so that we can meet them and then share about the ministry here w/ KMM. It’s a new experience, but I am really looking forward to it. If you would like to have us come share with your friends or your church about opportunities to partner with us in prayer, financially, or even volunteering your time, please contact us soon. great book…

As I have mentioned in a few different posts for the past few weeks I have been reading a book called The Principle of the Path by Andy Stanley. The basic premise of the books is very simple but very true, the direction we are going now determines our destination. As I read the book I was forced to confront and look at how different life choices have led me to where I am now, and how the choices I am facing presently are really going to impact where I will be in the future. I know as you read this you are probably thinking this all sounds really simplistic, but I was really convicted as I read this about how quick we are to make decisions without giving thought to how it will affect our future, or even more seriously what our Lord wants us to do. If you find yourself at a place of decision making currently or just need a good read, I highly reccomend this book!
